Coming soon. The Partner SOS API is in testing with findME and is not open to the public yet. Register your interest and we'll contact you when early access opens. Details on this page may change before launch.
Ride-hailing, delivery, security, lone-worker and travel apps already know where their people are and when something is wrong. What's harder is getting a clear alert, with a location, to the people who can help, quickly and reliably. The Partner SOS API gives you findME's SOS messaging as a service: your app decides when someone needs help, and findME texts their emergency contacts.
How it works
- Your user raises an SOS in your app, in whatever way suits your product: a button, a gesture or an automatic trigger.
- Your server calls the findME API with the person's name, their location and the contacts to alert (at least one).
- findME sends each contact an SMS with a findME SOS message and a map link to the location, and tells your server which messages went out.
Your users don't need a findME account or the findME app. The API works for the people who use your app.
What your users' contacts receive
One short, clear SMS that works on any phone, smartphone or not:
The message follows a fixed findME format with your app's name in it, so contacts recognise it and know who sent it. It's always one standard SMS per contact.
A first look at the API
One HTTPS request from your server, with a JSON body. An illustrative example:
Partners receive the full developer guide, an OpenAPI specification and code examples in Node.js and Python when early access opens.
Built for emergencies
- Safe to retry. Every request carries a request ID. If your server retries after a dropped connection, findME never sends the same SOS twice.
- Clear results. The response tells you, contact by contact, which messages went out, so your app can tell the person straight away.
- Hard to misuse. Each partner gets its own API key for server-to-server use. Messages follow a fixed SOS format, and there are limits per partner and per person, so a leaked key can't be turned into a spam tool.
- Predictable cost. One SMS per contact, counted per month. Requests that are rejected cost nothing.
Privacy by design
- findME sends the location only in the SOS message, and only to the contacts in the request.
- findME doesn't keep the recipients' phone numbers, the message or the location after sending. It keeps only what it needs for billing and to answer retries.
- Partners obtain their users' consent and include the SOS in their own privacy notice, in line with POPIA.
Who it's for
- E-hailing, delivery and fleet apps protecting drivers and passengers.
- Security companies, armed-response and control-room software.
- Lone-worker, field-service and workforce apps.
- Travel, campus, community and personal-safety apps.

Frequently asked questions
When will it be available?
The API is being tested now. Register your interest and we'll contact you when early access opens.
Do my users need the findME app?
No. The API works for your app's users. They don't need a findME account or the findME app.
How much will it cost?
Usage is billed per SMS sent, and pricing is agreed with each partner. Tell us your expected volume when you register your interest.
Which countries can receive the SMS?
findME is built for South Africa, and that's where we're starting. Tell us if you need other countries.
Does findME call emergency services?
No. findME alerts the contacts in the request. Your users should still call 10111 or 112 in an emergency. Our emergency numbers page lists them in one place.
