Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the findME Android application or this website. By downloading, installing, or using findME, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and Radikal Solutions ("Radikal Solutions", "we", "us"). We are based in South Africa, and these Terms are governed by South African law.
1. Description of the Service
findME is a personal safety application that allows registered users to send their real-time GPS location and a customisable SOS message to pre-configured emergency contacts via SMS and push notification. The app is designed to operate discreetly, with a disguised calculator interface and a hardware trigger (5-second volume-button hold).
findME is a supplementary safety tool, not a substitute for emergency services. In any life-threatening situation, call 10111 (SAPS) or 10177 (emergency medical services) immediately.
2. Eligibility & Account Registration
- You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account.
- Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
- You must provide accurate and complete registration information. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
- One person may not maintain multiple accounts. Accounts are non-transferable.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.
3. Subscription Plans & Billing
3.1 Available Plans

3.2 Billing
- All subscriptions are billed monthly through the Google Play Store. By subscribing, you agree to Google Play's billing terms.
- Subscriptions automatically renew each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date via your Google Play account settings.
- We do not handle your payment card details. All billing disputes must be raised with Google Play support.
3.3 Bring-A-Friend Discount
- When a valid referral code is applied at registration, the referred user may subscribe at the discounted rate of R12/month (Individual Plan only).
- The referrer receives a one-month billing deferral (i.e. their next billing date is pushed back 30 days) once the referred friend's purchase is verified.
- Referral codes are for personal use only. Bulk distribution, sale, or abuse of referral codes may result in account termination.
3.4 Refunds
Subscription payments are processed by Google Play. All refund requests must be submitted to Google Play within their applicable refund window. We do not issue independent refunds except where required by the South African Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA).
4. Plan Switching
- You may switch between the Individual Plan and the Family Plan directly within the app (Profile → More Details → Manage Your Plan).
- No immediate charge: Plan switches use Google Play's DEFERRED billing — you remain on your current plan and price until your next billing renewal date. The new plan's pricing takes effect at renewal.
- Plan features (e.g. family member slots) take effect immediately after the switch is confirmed in-app.
- 30-day cooldown: You may only switch plans once every 30 days.
- Switching from Family → Individual will remove all current family members from your plan. They will be notified by email. Their premium access ends at your next billing date.
- Switching from Individual → Family generates a new
FAM-XXXXXfamily invite code. You may immediately invite up to 4 members.
5. Family Plan
- The Family Plan owner holds the billing subscription. Family members receive premium access tied to the owner's subscription.
- The owner may invite up to 4 additional members by email. Members must have or create a findME account to join.
- The owner may remove a family member at any time. Removed members' premium access will end at the owner's next billing renewal date.
- Family members may not independently cancel or alter the plan. Changes must be made by the owner.
- If the owner's subscription lapses or is cancelled, all family members' premium access will end simultaneously.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use findME to:
- Trigger false or malicious SOS alerts.
- Harass, stalk, or track individuals without their consent.
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with the app's security features.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the app's source code.
- Upload or transmit viruses or malicious code.
- Violate any applicable South African law, including but not limited to the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECT Act), POPIA, or the Cybercrimes Act.
- Use automated scripts or bots to interact with our systems.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach this section.
7. Permissions & Device Access
findME requires the following device permissions to function. By granting them, you consent to their use as described:
- Precise Location (Foreground & Background) — to capture your GPS coordinates during an SOS event. Location is accessed only when you trigger an alert.
- Accessibility Service — to detect the hardware volume-button trigger sequence while the device screen is off or the app is in the background.
- Foreground Service — to maintain the alert sequence (up to three 5-minute dispatch rounds) without being interrupted by Android's battery management.
- SMS / Phone permissions — declared but not used for outbound messaging; all SMS delivery is performed server-side via Twilio.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
⚠️ findME is provided "as is" and "as available". While we make every effort to ensure reliability, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service, delivery of SMS alerts, or GPS accuracy at all times. Network outages, device battery states, or third-party service failures may prevent alerts from reaching their destination.
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Radikal Solutions disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Radikal Solutions and its employees, directors, and contractors shall not be liable for:
- Any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use findME.
- Personal injury, property damage, or any harm resulting from a failed, delayed, or undelivered SOS alert.
- Third-party service failures (like network providers).
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be limited under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
10. Intellectual Property
All content, trademarks, logos, source code, and intellectual property in findME and on this website are the exclusive property of Radikal Solutions. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.
11. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Dashboard → Profile Management → Deregister Account). Deleting your account:
- Permanently removes your account from our database.
- Does not automatically cancel your Google Play subscription — you must cancel separately through Google Play.
- Is irreversible. All associated data will be deleted subject to our retention obligations.
12. Modifications to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue findME (or any part thereof) at any time with reasonable notice. We will notify active subscribers via email before any material changes that affect paid features.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. We will notify you of material changes via the email associated with your account at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of findME after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms shall first be referred to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of the South Gauteng High Court (or the Magistrate's Court of appropriate jurisdiction), South Africa.
